Stars will shine in Branson next week.
Nearly 30 nationally known celebrities from the entertainment and sports worlds will be in the Tri-Lakes Area on Tuesday and Wednesday for John Daly’s Lion’s Heart Invitational Golf Tournament.
The two-day event at Daly’s Murder Rock Golf & Country Club will feature a celebrity golf tournament, an ice-cream and autograph party, an auction and concert.
“This is going to be a wonderful event,” said Jenn-ifer McCullough, with Murder Rock. “We are really excited and hope people will make it a point to be here.”
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Ozark Mountain Family YMCA and the John Daly Foundation.
“We feel very fortunate,” said Ozark Mountain Family YMCA Executive Director Talbird Lovan. “This event is going to help us benefit this community.”
The YMCA will receive the proceeds from ticket sales at the concert.
Some of the stars joining Daly include movie stars Luke Wilson, Chris McDonald, Jim Hampton and Burton Gilliam, and television celebrities Anthony Anderson and Johnny Fairplay.
From the sports world will be NASCAR driver Geoff Bodine; former Kansas City Chief Art Still; and Olympic ice skater and boxer Tonya Harding.
Musicians include Mark Bryan and Dean Felber, with Hootie & the Blowfish; John Cafferty, from the Beaver Brown Band; Samantha Cole; Johnny Lee; Loverboy lead singer Mike Reno; and Survivor Lead singer Jimi Jamison.
Darius Rucker, lead singer for Hootie & the Blowfish, was set to participate in next week’s events. However, on Friday, officials said he has cancelled after being approached with the possibility of appearing on the “David Letterman Show.”
