Golfing celebrities will again be sharing centre stage with some of the world's top golfers in next week's prestigious Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
Some of the best known amateur golfers join a world-class field of professionals, led by double Open champion Padraig Harrington, for the prestigious Dunhill Links event at St Andrews from October 2-5.
Personalities from the world of entertainment include film and TV stars Hugh Grant, Samuel L.Jackson, Kyle MacLachlan, John O’Hurley, Dougray Scott and Luke Wilson.
Also taking part are music legends Don Felder from the Eagles, Ronan Keating, Huey Lewis and Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres.
Three of Britain’s sporting knights – Sir Ian Botham, Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Steve Redgrave - lead a locker room full of sporting heroes including Dutch football maestro Ruud Gullit, former England player Jamie Redknapp, South African rugby’s Morné du Plessis and former All Blacks captain Sean Fitzpatrick.
Cricket wiull be well represented too in the form of India’s Kapil Dev, England’s Mark Nicholas and Michael Vaughan and South African Shaun Pollock.
The amateurs share centre stage with top golfers like Harrington, World No.6 Ernie Els and local heroes Colin Montgomerie and Sam Torrance - a mix which gives the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship its unique character.
The championship was conceived as a celebration of links golf and is played over three of the world’s top links courses – the Old Course at St Andrews, the Championship Course at Carnoustie and the highly regarded Kingsbarns.
