I totally agree with you, SLD, there is lots of Owen-ness to bask in and enjoy. As long as he's happy and okay, I guess we can put up with a li'l separation, even though its really hard...

I guess O. was more than a "party boy" or the "Butterscoth Stallion"- nickname given from a gossip blog hated by O. family- if you read carefully my previous post I put on only the events he partecipated through end 07 and beginning 08, not stupid gossip rumours. O. - surely before 2005 when he started being considered a lot for parties, etc._ was majorly a big actor ( for numbers he took part in more than ten movies between 2000 and 2004), a fine writer and Oscar nominee, a guy with a strong sense of family and duties, also in public life ( he never caused problems on set, took his parents or bros to premieres instead of blondies, never caught drunken or in riots, never missed to promote movies), he was also very loyal to friends (an example is Zoolander_Tenenbaum exchange of roles with Ben Stiller, the famous letter defending Ben in SAH). Personally in interviews he showed love for arts, literature, he was interested in nature problems and _I really want to underline this- he was really religious in a traditional way (no Scientology, New Age, "spiritual") which is uncommon in Hollywood. In his movie also when he played the "stoned guy" he turned out to have a sweet, generous side in the end; he never used rough language, or open sexual references or scenes. This is O. I miss Than In the WD period paps started following him everywhere, making giant some stories (about girls and hotties he once said "Half of what it's said about me it isn't true") and finally the publicized KH relationship came out...then last year and other kind of rumours ruined his past. I don't know if he is ill or not, but surely his behaviour from the accident shows a sweet sense of sensibility and vulnerability, and I don't know how he'll manage the pressure when M&M comes out, in the case- I really hope_ he decides to promote it.

As regards John Travolta I think the situation is different and typical. After enormous success in '70s, he didn't stop working, but he wasn't successful in '80s, without emotional shock. It recalls me more of Di Caprio immediately after Titanic instead. O. hadn't never an enormous box office success, or consideration as the hottie number one in Hollywood, neither Luke (this because they don't like to be gossip objects, like MCConaughey or B.Pitt). This add them some genuinity too.

Hansel, how do you know the Owen you miss is gone? Just because he's not at our beck and call doesn't mean he is a totally changed person.
And maybe he is changing his lifestyle for all we know. Maybe he's acutely aware that he's turning 40 soon and is outgrowing his party-hardy days and may be transitioning to a more serious lifestyle. Maybe he's got "no new contracts" after NATM2 because maybe he's considering taking his life in a different direction, considering other options. Personally, I'd love to see him write again and act his own writing.
I haven't a clue what's going on with Owen or what is in his head, but I see no logical reason to assume the Owen we love is gone. That is something only his family and closest friends would know - and maybe not even them.
If his career seems to be winding down, maybe that is his choice. It doesn't necessarily mean it is winding down permanently. I would love for people to stop writing about Owen negatively and in the past tense, assuming the worst about him as if they wish it were true.

Owen we love seems to be out on a vacation from our prying eyes. And though we arent seeing him around much, in a way its good, since it means he has some P-R-I-V-A-C-Y and that doesnt necessarily mean sulking at home or recuperating in the hospital. He might be looking over the interiors of his new house. Just because we dont know doesnt mean its bad. We're not Gods, we dont need to know everything.

Yeah its good he's getting privacy and time to think things through and have a bit of a breather from featuring in newspapers and celebrity blog sites every day or so, that has to be a good thing I think, I mean if it were me, I'd be so fed up of seeing photos of me with probably at least some critical/negative comments every few days or every week or so... though having said that, we have still seen him being featured on such websites and so on a fair bit after his 'incident' last year. There have been photos of him in Peru and at the beach with Garcia, among other things, so its not as if he's entirely disappeared ever since 'that' day... its also good that we know he has worked on a couple of movies since 'that' day, at least it makes us think that he does want to stay in that business and keep on acting.
So you know I think its probably good that he has been in the papers/websites, even if its only been ocassionally and we know he's worked on a couple of movies, so, I don't think he's totally 'gone' yet or anything... he hasn't done much promo but maybe he will promote Marley & Me closer to its opening time(?) perhaps he's taking a bit of time out before going back to do that... he didn't for Drillbit but now its some months later on, he might do it this time around, who knows...
Unless we hear otherwise, I'd presume that he's enjoying having some time outside of the public eye/criticism and given the fact that he has worked on a couple of movies, I don't believe he is about to disappear or anything... I hope he's getting any help he needs and that he's able to 'find himself' and feel happier now, so he can move on more positively and prevent ever again getting into the state he may have been in, when 'that day' happened... if this makes any sense(?!) and if that means that his personality changes a bit and he's less in the public eye, then so be it, I'd much rather that happened, than he went back to how he was when he was potentially pretty empty feeling inside and risk him hurting himself... not that anyone wants that to happen I know, im not saying anyone does, its just that I know when some people are depressed and get help and go through rehab etc., they are slightly different (or usually) afterwards... some people are bit party animals beforehand but it turns out they only did that because they felt empty inside and all of that, so, in that case, yeah it may have been fun to be around them then but its no good for them, they have to mellow out and change, if you or they don't want to become at all badly depressed or suicidal or whatever...
but I know, I dont know for sure what happened with him and I can't say for sure that his partying ways were linked at all, I just know thats the way it is for some people, some people drink and party alot because their insecure or lonely or whatever...
um ill shut up lol I just hope Owen is ok...

I am with all of you on this one.
Sure we miss him and we hope he is okay. But i am sure there are some good reasons behind it. Maybe he is still getting himself together so when Marley and Me hits the cinemas, he is all raring to go for the promotion of it. Or he could be just staying clear of any paps, just thankful they have finally left him alone. I agree Luke has been quiet too. But i am sure its just a temporary thing. They will both be back and we won't be able to shut up about them!
