I am a Scorpio. Owen is a Scorpio. This definition or explanation of Scorpios really does fit me to the T. I could also see this fitting Owen, as well.
This is a long read.
Scorpio is the Eighth Sign of the Zodiac. It is associated with beginnings and endings...and those born under this Sign are unafraid of either As Autumn advances. It is a time of impending hibernation. Scorpio...perhaps the most complex of all Zodiac Signs. Is is significant that this Sign has not one symbol, but several: the Scorpion, the Eagle and the Phoenix, each contributing distinctive qualities to the Sign's nature. Aggression and instinct are provided courtesy of the Scorpion aspect, illustrated by way of destructive behavior, a viciously competitive personality with a tendency to be violent and cruel. The Eagle aspect provides a shrewd insight possessed by most Scorpio natives...they have the ability to see what others miss. They discern hidden motives, ferreting out secret flaws and vulnerabilities. Indeed, due to the thirst for power and and mastery, those governed by this Zodiac Sign are not above exploiting the weaknesses of others to their own advantage. It has been said that counted among the most important tasks of those ruled by Scorpio is the necessity to rid themselves of the tendency to be judgmental, learning to temper their insight with compassion. Individuals who can manage this difficult assignment manifest the virtues of the Phoenix...the redemptive third aspect of this Sign. Much like the Phoenix, those governed by Scorpio are survivors. In an emotional sense, they may perish in the ashes of their own destructive nature, but they can also transcend and transform. The symbol...or glyph...of Scorpio is generally considered to be a representation of the legs and tail of the Scorpion, signifying the power of this Sign to suddenly and fatally...often with a hint of willful cruelty or vindictiveness...sting whatever and whomever may have hurt its feelings or denied its strong-willed desires. Scorpio is Negative in polarity. The general characteristics of Negative Signs lean toward introversion and prefer to draw upon personal resources rather than look for external stimuli. Such individuals are naturally more receptive, sensitive and nurturing than are the Zodiac Signs of Positive polarity (Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius). However, Negative Signs are also likely to be much more cautious, retiring and standoffish than their Positive counterparts with a tendency to keep personal feelings under tight control. All Zodiac Signs governed by the Elements of Earth and Water are considered to be Feminine in nature. Thus, Scorpio (ruled by water) is considered Feminine (as are Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Capricorn and Pisces). Feminine Signs are traditionally conceived as being more receptive and less active than their Masculine counterparts which are ruled by the Elements of Fire and Air (the Zodiac Signs of Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius). Feminine Signs focus primarily on the emotional and material world with particular attention to sensitivity and depth of feeling. Feminine Signs are said to be nocturnal or night-oriented. Therefore, the term "feminine" should be viewed in the same light as the Yin (or dark) Polarity of the Tao. Positive Traits: determined, persistent, resourceful, powerful, intuitive, passionate, emotional, exciting and magnetic
Negative Traits: jealousy, resentful, compulsive, obsessive, secretive, obstinate, stubborn, manipulative and vindictive
Likes: truthfulness, hidden causes, being involved, being persuasive and work that is meaningful
Dislikes: being given only surface data, being taken advantage of, shallow relationships, accepting and giving flattery

I don't know why I am obsessing so much on this today...um maybe because my sign says that 's what I do!! Here's more Scorpio is the sign of extremes, such as birth and death, decay and regeneration. It also rules everything hidden and underground. Any planet placed in Scorpio will have its function intensified . A lot.
The Sun in Scorpio: If you ever want to know the real dirt on someone or something, ask a Scorpio Sun-Sign. Somehow, these folks manage to get all the secrets and know where all the skeletons are buried. Just don’t ask them about their own secrets. They’ll cut you off fast. Back in the late 1950’s when it was the style to have TV interview shows that humiliated and insulted the guests, the late Bert Lancaster was being interviewed by John Wingate. Lancaster thought he was there to plug his latest movie and, all of a sudden, he was being asked all sorts of personal questions. After delivering a few choice insults, as only an angry Scorpio Sun-Sign can do, Lancaster walked off leaving Wingate with 15 minutes of dead air time (it was a live show). STING. This sign represents the highest and the lowest. Dr. Jonas Salk, whose anti-polio vaccine is still saving thousands of lives every year, was a Scorpio Sun-Sign. So is Charles Manson. The highest or the lowest.
The Moon in Scorpio: The Moon is emotions and Scorpio is the sign of extremes and jealousy. Any questions? It goes without saying that these emotions have to be channeled into the right direction or there may be a few minor problems. On the positive side, this placement increases the emotional need for great sex.
Mercury in Scorpio: gives a subtle mind that is always looking for secrets or something hidden. This is a great position for a detective or therapist. Mercury in Scorpio is also great for finding weaknesses in opponents --- or anyone else, for that matter. And talk about a sharp tongue! The have an instinct for saying the one thing to shake anyone else up. Even if they don’t say it, they are thinking it. Not a bad placement for a writer of murder mysteries.
Venus in Scorpio: Venus is what makes us happy. Scorpio is sex, obsessions, and obsessions with sex. Relationships are seldom light and breezy with this placement of Venus. If you have this one, you can love partners or hate them, but it is always with passion. Nothing half-hearted here. Scorpio is the sign of the "underworld" and those with this Venus, at some point in their lives, will be attracted to pleasures or people that society considers illicit or downright illegal. Ironically, they can come out of it renewed, like the mythical Phoenix, rising out of its own ashes. That is, if they are lucky.
Mars in Scorpio: Let’s say that the President of the United States has Mars in Scorpio, and aliens attack from outer space. The first thing they would do is reach for the thermonuclear weapons. Now let’s say that there is a fly buzzing around their head and disturbing them. The first thing they do is reach for the thermonuclear weapons. Mars is the fighting ability, and in Scorpio, it is either on or off. Nothing in between. People with this placement have to learn moderation in battle.
Jupiter in Scorpio: In the area of religion and philosophy, there is a tendency to be attracted towards all things hidden and mysterious. One woman I know of who has this placement became successful as a private detective. Jupiter is where we are "lucky". Well, at least it is where we feel good and secure (Saturn, by contrast, shows what we NEED to feel secure, what we FEAR not having) so we can relax there and get things done easily. Jupiter in Scorpio can give us "luck" in dealing with other people’s money and resources, in having these available for us when we need them.
Saturn in Scorpio: has an above average need for a sexual relationship. But there is also a fear (Saturn) of being overwhelmed by the other person, so Saturn in Scorpio people will do things to pull back. Like picking a fight just when things are going great. Or that wonderful Scorpio trick, being mad (or, though they don’t like to admit it, AFRAID) about something and picking a fight about something else. And you, of course, have to make the connection.
Uranus in Scorpio: The planet of the unexpected in the sign of sex and death. The last time Uranus entered Scorpio was 1975, just about the time that the AIDS epidemic started.
Neptune in Scorpio: The illusion of this age (1956 to 1971) was that people could be reborn (Scorpio) through drugs (Neptune). There was also great concern about pollution, with very little action taken. Neptune changes minds. Action comes later. In this case, Uranus and Pluto followed Neptune into Scorpio and that’s when we got environmental protection laws.
Pluto in Scorpio: happened from 1984 to 1995. This generation will be obsessed with all things sexual (who isn’t, but they will be even more so). Even more, however, they will be the generation to bring about a biological revolution, including human cloning.

Susan, that's very interesting. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post all of that! I'm a Capricorn which is compatible with Scorpio (I believe I'm also compatible with Virgo, Luke's sun sign). I have a Scorpio guy friend in VA with whom I've been very close friends with since college days ... uh, ... 37 years ago. We tell each other everything, and there's physical attraction too. (He also happens to be blond, <grin>). I'm very interested in astrology too. I've had my birth chart completed and analyzed, and every few years I have my friend update it. But I don't place all my stock in astrology. For me, it remains a matter of interesting speculation. It can't be proved or disproved. Unfortunately, we don't know Owen's entire chart, only his sun sign. As to the other elements in Scorpio, we can only guess which one might be his depending on their description and if we think we can rule-out which one doesn't fit him. There's also the question of his rising sign and which houses all his elements fall in. That could only be determined by a birth chart. We know where he was born but, alas, not what time of day. I think, when preparing a chart for someone of unknown birth time, the default time of day is noon. Maybe somebody here would like to prepare such a chart for Owen, using noon as his birth time. It's a big help if the person has astrological software; doing it manually is quite a task. Thanks again for your hard work!

I have never had a chart done. I would love to have one. I don't put all my faith in this either, but I can tell you, that for me, I fit just about all the elements of the Scorpio. I'm just not sure if that is good or bad #donotknow#

Susan, the way it's been explained to me is to consider the "negatives" ascribed to you as being maybe a weakness you need to work on or just be aware of. Edited to add: I have a good friend in Canada who has astrology software and does charts for not too much $$. If you like, I could hook you up with her but you might prefer to find someone in USA where you don't have to consider the currency exchange. You can find them anywhere online or through Astrology.com.

I'm a taurean, and I'd like y'all to read what Yahoo! says about Taurus and Scorpio More importattly, Owen and Wes are best pals. Wes is a taurean. Two years ago, I met this girl, who, not only became one of my best friends, but also the first person who thinks so much like I do, who complements me completely. She's my writing partner in our "movie" (like Wes-Owen #happy# ) and she's a scorp. Conclusion: Owen and I are made for each other.

Oh-wee, I found a long passage for Capricorn/Scorpio. This is the best part: "...this is a powerful combination, one of the best matches in the Zodiac. You have a comfortable and easy affection between you, as if you already know each other well. And, if Mars and Venus favour you, the bedroom will be steamy."
#banana1#
I'm also compatible with Taurus. Donovan Leitch is a Taurus! My best, oldest friend (astrologer in Canada) is Cancer with whom I'm also compatible.

I am glad to be seeing positive feedback on this thread (Scorpio looking for confirmation ). After I posted initially, I reread and thought man this is long. They are going to think I am loco #crazy# I don't know how you guys insert other posts or outside information. I am not very computer literate. any assistance would be appreciated. Anyway...check out this intensity. Basically Scorpio - Scorpio is either intensly good or intensly bad. I am choosing to believe that Owen and I would be intensly good ;D (Also that stubborn scorpio thing in me) ah heck just look here answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=1006053127730My circle of friends include Taurus, cancer, scorpio, and about a bazillion pisces (there are just a ton of them...summer lovin').

Oh, that's OK, SLD. I'm glad you did that. It's interesting to read. I can see why you would have hesitated though. It's hard to predict how the subject of astrology will be received by people you don't know well. I can see why Scorpio/Scorpio could be intensely good or intensely bad. It's an intense sign as I know from my buddy in VA. He's an intense person (mostly in a good way) and has a lot of Scorpio characteristics. For the heck of it, I checked for Kate Hudson's sun sign. She's an Aries, last day of Aries (before the start of Taurus). The sun in Aries might not automatically disqualify Kate from having a successful relationship with Scorpio Owen but, according to the stars, it doesn't help. If she's got several planets in Aries and Owen has several planets in Scorpio, that would really doom the relationship, according to the stars. Still, there's something very magnetic between them or else they wouldn't keep returning. I have a Pisces good friend; we used to work together. Andy Gibb was a Pisces. Andy was a Pisces, George Harrison was a Pisces, Donovan Leitch is a Taurus, Luke Wilson is a Virgo and so is Barry Gibb. And Owen a Scorpio. I like all those guys very much, and my sun sign happens to be compatible with their sun signs. Hmmm... is there a connection? Edited to add: SLD, when inserting text here, all you have to do is the copy & paste thing.

Kate is a cusp? ? She's got Taurean tendencies? #no# I'm a cusp of Taurus and Gemini an s if she's a part taurean, I'm a geminian from now on... But Taureans rock!!!! (Hey, I'm not saying that. George Clooney, David Beckham, Wes Anderson...need I add anything else?)

Oh, almost forgot: Brian Jones was a Pisces too!
But I was also attracted to Keith Richards, a Sagittarian - not compatible with Capricorn.
So there goes my theory... ;D

Oh, almost forgot: Brian Jones was a Pisces too! But I was also attracted to Keith Richards, a Sagittarian - not compatible with Capricorn. So there goes my theory... ;D To correct myself, I should have written: There goes my hypothesis. Theories are hypotheses backed up by facts and reproducible supporting evidence. Just wanted to be clear that I recognize the difference between theories and hypotheses.

Interesting that Kate is Aries. BF (the one that led to my downward spiral) was an Aries. Definitely sexually compatible. But lethal for this Scorpio, aka ME
