Oh, that's OK. Count me as one of those envious women.

My point is only that Meg Simpson - as smart as she may be - is hardly in the same class as Pres. Obama. That remains to be seen. Meg is still young you know. ( I'm just ribbing you, Tex.) I simply wanted to make the point that Meg's law degree, which seemed be looked down upon, is the very same law degree that Pres. Obama holds. I didn't wish to make any other resume comparisons.

I don't know how old Meg is but yes, she is probably younger than Luke and thus has many more years to make her mark. No, that's OK. I knew what you were saying, Remi. I just didn't want an unfamiliar reader to get the wrong impression, thinking the new president is some kind of celebrity slacker. (He may be a celebrity but I doubt a slacker).

Celebrity slacker? I never intended to give that impression!
I'm not sure how an unfamiliar reader could have gotten that from what I pointed out. If they did, I apologize. I stated a simple fact. Nothing mean spirited or derogatory was intended.

I don't know who visits this forum. I was just trying to be a little informative. I apologize for that and for being so offensive, Remi.
Edited to add: The "celebrity slacker" was a reference to Meg Simpson - if indeed she is unemployed. It was a misunderstanding. I'm Sorry.

I looked up JD's in wikipedia and it seems to be the primary degree that all lawyers get. There is a bachelor degree and an SJD. The JD is a Doctorate; the SJD is also a Doctorate but is not meant to be a professional degree... more academic/research degree.
Not that I am any expert... but can not find the other 'higher level' law degrees. ... "simply a JD law degree" the jealousy of stalkers is always laughable.

I think we're reading too much into this. It's just the opinion of someone who wasn't impressed w/Meg posting nasty comments on line about her. The bottom line is, they're together & probably don't care what people think. Since I enjoy a bit of gossip, I found it amusing to read an unflattering opinion of Meg since all that's been written about her is how supermodelish & educated she is. The "knock-kneed" comment was funny! It was probably posted by some envious girl who'd like to hit on Luke I agree with you caroline. It's just someone's opinion and may or may not be accurate. Since we're all green with envy, it's fun to find something out about her that may make her seem less perfect! It sure got us all talking!

Tex, I wasn't offended. And I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, too. #flowers# Thanks for the research Lib! Edited to add: I just looked over my previous posts and I wanted to clarify that I'm one of the people who thinks that Meg's academic achievements are impressive. However, I also believe that it will all be for not if she doesn't use them!

Thanks, Chevygirl. You're so right about this post causing such a stir among us. Let's face it, Meg's academic & athletic achievements are way above average. Let's give the woman credit for that! Although she appears to not be using them at the moment, they give her lots of confidence I'm sure. Enough to be able to feel equal to him. Maybe she's just taking a break from being an associate. Having worked as a legal secy for a partner of a law firm in NYC, I've witnessed how much work associates were expected to produce. Maybe Meg is fried and can afford to chill for a while. It wouldn't be me though. As I've said before, she shouldn't be so available to him, in my humble opinion. They might be living together by now though, in which case, she's always available! Valentine's Day is coming...another engagement opportunity. Here I go again.

OK, Remi.... #hug#
To stir the gossip some more....
In Meg's defense, "slacker" was probably not the best word to describe her! Her background says she is definitely NOT a slacker. I just couldn't think of a one-word label for someone who "has-worked-hard-for-a-tough-to-get-degree-but-seems-not-to-be-currently-putting-it-to-use. Maybe such a word description should be coined.
When I worked at a Boston lab, a pathologist there decided at a young age to quit practicing medicine and just work in her beautiful English garden in her Tudor mansion. (She had a wealthy boyfriend or husband). She had obviously worked hard to get an M.D. Like Law, the College of Medicine is no slouch of a curriculum to master! (Four yrs pre-med, 4 yrs med, and 5 yrs' residency for Pathology). She started her career young and as a single mom. I don't know how she did it!! So I put Dr. A. in the same category as Meg: apparently not working but definitely achieved.
Maybe Meg is Luke's attorney....

Good point, Texasgal. If she is his attorney, he'd be getting two "services" for the price of one. Lawyer/girlfriend all rolled into one package! If they get married though, I hope she doesn't draw up the prenup. He'd better get a 2nd opinion on that one!

Yes, I too recommend a third party not associated with Meg or Meg's firm draw up the prenup. ;D

I've witnessed that too, girlfromipanema. Smart women, when madly in love, becoming total "yes men" to their boyfriends especially if their bf has a domineering type of personality. Luke is supposedly so laid back, but tightly wound, as Owen has described him, at times. But being a good old boy from Texas, he probably likes his gfs to be sweet and compliant to a point. (Why does that the thought of that entice me?) He's probably a real tiger w/the girls! rrrrrrr!! Lucky Meg

When u say a "good old boy from texas", hum...I'm not a american, but i always had a close relation to the country, with friends and things like that, and I can say that all the guys from Texas I know are married, in a estable life...That's the point, he dated Andrea for 4 years ( u girls will see that I have a strong solidarity by her, cause 4!!!!!!!!!! years..no, no, no, let's repeat 4 years!!!!! a guy that is almost 40, with a very good money situation...is there any motive for not to getty married? if the relation was not good, ok, goodbye, but 4 years to notice that?) I don't have a romatinc view of luke. I think he is a wonderfull actor, the most hadsome in my opinion ( he repleaced Bill Pulmann in my heart, don't u girls think they look like a little?), smart, when he smiles "oh god", but not a old boy from texas. In my group of fri3ends, he is exactly what we call " a guy with terrible past", a lot of long relations ( let's say that a relation in hollywood that least 1 year is like 3 to us. everything there happens so fast...) and no marriage...i don't know! But ur right ,Definilly Lucky Meg, at least, by now! lol If it work out, wonderfull, she is very lucky, if not, she is the anonymous that will always see her ex in outdoors, movies and magazines with other girls( oh, i can't hide my friendly feelings for Andrea, lol lol lol)
