Thanks for the advice Toughgal! I didnt know havinga tattoo can disqualify you as a blood donor.....I need to rethink the whole thing! I hope getting one on the shoulder is not too painful... Lav, Keep it up gurl . What say we get it done from the same guy ? ;D

I worked with a woman who got a tribal design on her lower back. Though it does cover a lot of her, she said it wasn't too painful.
Good luck, and have fun!

Hello!
So I have two tattoos: one on my lower back and one on my hip (OUCH!!!)
Tex is right, you are disqualified from donating blood for Six months after a tattoo and lower back tattoos do not really hurt. I am not sure why that is, but I was anxious when I went in to get the one on my back because the hip was painful but I ended up pleasantly surprised.
The hip (which was my yay I'm 18 so I'm going for it tattoo) was extremely unpleasant - I will say though that it is a very odd pain , not a "crying pain" (ofcourse that might have been because I was the only chick in the joint and I was trying to make sure that I was a "tough so in so")

That's cool, artzombie. Would you like to describe your tattoos for us? If you'd rather not, that's OK.
Btw, #welcome# to the Wilsonettes!

Thanks!
They are both very basic. The one on my hip is a solid star that is about the size of a quarter and the one on my lower back is Chinese Characters that mean eternal love or lasting love.

those sound awesome;) Peace, we should get them done at the same time.. then if it hurts too bad or soemthing it will both be done and no scaring off!LOL I have been told by many people that once you get one, you will keep wanting to get more, I wonder if Owen ever will??

That is really true...you really want more! I think that it has to deal with the adrenaline rush you get while you are in the process. I think you guys will do fine! Just choose your location and design carefully...I was 19 when I got my second one and now at 22 I am already considering getting the one on my back removed. Simply because I want my back to be clear and imageless again. Sorry for such a rant...

Artzombie, those sound like cool tattoos. It's ironic that Madonna's tattoo includes Hebrew letters. (I don't remember which ones, wish I knew). Ironic because, according to Jewish law, tattooing is taboo (although piercing is OK). It doesn't really matter though since Madonna is not Jewish; it's just kind of ... interesting, I guess. I have a hunch Owen will not get any more tattoos. He tends to show quite a bit of skin in his movies (YES!!), and I've not seen many A-list celebs having many or any tattoos, yes? That might change though as tattooing becomes more & more acceptable to the general public. It's been written in articles that Owen's mum does not like his tattoo so, maybe in respect to her, he might not get any more. I think it's a great idea for Lavender and Peace to be tattoo'd at same time. Nothing like Wilsonette-bonding.

speaking of tattoos, I just remembered, Beckham has his wife's name tattooed in hindi. But, instead of saying Victoria, it says Vhictoria! Lav, many have told the same to me, but honestly, there is a limit to which I can bear the pain!

Hmmm... The artist must not have known Hindi and must not have been working from a good reference. Too bad. Yet another reason to choose your artist carefully. Also to be considered: Will your tattoo be visible to anyone? If so, consider your career choice and whether or not you'll be interviewing for a job in the future. Some careers are very conservative and, if seen, your tattoo might not be seen favorably. Hate to go negative but I'm just offering some things someone might want to think about. Artzombie, your "rant" didn't look like a rant at all to me (so no need to apologize). Rants contain long and multiple paragraphs, tend to be somewhat repetitious, and contain many punctuation marks and capital letters. ;D ;D

Tex, that sounds like my average, daily posts! I didnt know you hate me so much! (joking, as usual!) I'll be getting mine on my shoulder, and I seriously doubt I'll go to a formal place in my tank tops. So that shouldnt be a problem for me!

Shattered Peace, But I can't think of one posting of yours that was angry! You're always such a sweetheart. #hug# Sounds like a good location for a tattoo. Back in the 1980's, I was a secretary of a conservative company that would have auditors from a certain auditing institution come 4 times a year to make certain their books were in order. Those auditors were even more conservative than my employer, all the men & women in their corporate "uniforms" of the 1980's, and socializing with nobody. I'm not picking on auditors as, off the job, they may have been party animals, lol. It's just that they have to maintain a high level of professionalism and standoff-ishness that would be hard to keep if they were wearing visible tattoos. Certainly not 1980's Corporateamerica. 'Course my opinion is outdated. I haven't worked in that environment in 20 years, and that climate may have changed.

I am not sure what field you are in SP (or going into) but your shoulder sounds like a safe place - and if you are in a business field or something that might have occaisonal formal events, they have (from what I hear) a really amazing makeup specifically to conceal tattoos.
Tex I saw on another posting (a pretty old one so I didn't post there) that you are an artist! I saw your Owen picture - it looks amazing! I am an art student (about to finish BFA in Art Education) and hopefully will be developing a portfolio and applying to grad school in a few years for drawing and painting. I actually wanted to go to UT Austin.
