anyone see the new trailer for The Squid and the Whale? It's up on apple.com/trailers it looks like a great movie, I think the writing/dialogue is great. I'm surprised by it.

Noah Baumbach and Jennifer Jason Lee just got married. Here's the link to the article if anyone's interested: people.aol.com/people/articles/0,19736,1110332,00.html

Thanks spartangirl...
Jennifer Jason Leigh - one of my fav's. That's great they just recently married.
Regarding Mark Mothersbaugh, I love his pug in the TLA interviews. I just recently saw another interview with him regarding Larry Fisher and he was holding the pug and in the same building (his recording studio). Adorable.
Have you guys noticed there are a couple of commercials that have appropriated his sound? Some hotel chain and Fidelity investments (the commercials about the nest eggs). My favorite is when the guy is comparing the size of his nest egg to everyone he passes.

Crazy Tara Subkoff went overboard shooting her mouth off while she was on some fashion panel. She said some pretty amusing things: www.wwd.com/issue/article/101554Her not wanting kids may be part of the reason why she and Wes split, cuz he said before in interviews that he wants to be a dad someday.

This is not a swipe at spartangirl, this is a swipe at the article. I hate how they act like it's so odd for a woman to not want children they had to include this in the article. I don't ever want kids either. Women aren't baby machines. Even at my work a co-worker mentioned he didn't want kids and neither did his wife, the other co-workers were shocked, "What, why not? She'll change her mind!". For some women, children are just not the road they want to take their life down. The rest of the article made her sound like a moron, but I don't think not wanting children should make a woman seem like a monster. Sorry I just had to get this off my chest. And as for Wes wanting kids, two things I thought were cool was how he said he is in no rush, some people act like the clock is ticking once they hit the mid-30's, and how he actually pointed out what a sacrifice it must be. When they asked him about most people being married and having kids by his age he said something like "I feel no pressure to get married and have kids, I do want those things someday though." And then he mentioned someone he knew flying from where they were filming or something all the way to New York for one night to see their kid's play and seemed a little shocked and said "When I'm ready to do that is when I'm ready to be a father." I'm really glad he looks at it that way cause I think so many people feel like it's set in stone that you must marry and have children by your 30's or you're behind in life and they seem to think of children as just little bundles of joy and get a rude awakening when they see how much sacrifice goes into it.

I have to put in my two cents. I felt the pressure of getting married and having kids as I aproached 30, and I jumped into a life that I really didn't want. Don't get get me wrong, I love my two children more than life itself and I would do anything for them, but I don't belive it the right path for everyone. Especially in society today, it is a huge responsibility, even more so than in the past, to have children. I can see why some women wouldn't want to have children...for many reasons. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, and one can still have a fulfilling life without children. Ok, I'm done ranting now. ;D

I get what you're saying, Sculpturedsound. I want to have kids someday, but I don't think it would be the end of the world if for some reason it didn't happen for me. I think the article was making fun of Tara for how she answered the question.

I really have to say Tara comes off as one of the most idiotically snotty people to ever exist. Her comments on gays, the dress she didn't like being good for the modern day muslim, and the dress being too racy for the size 16 plus average american woman. What is wrong with her?!? I know I'm totally out of line for saying this but I'm glad Wes isn't with someone with these attitudes. I sure wouldn't want to be with someone who acts like that. I really try not to put anyone down but I can't help it here. She really sounded stupid. She has a beautiful face but the ugly comments that come out of it make her very unattractive.

I think the article was making fun of Tara for how she answered the question. Yeah, that's true, although I have to admit, working in a bookstore and seeing the kids tear all the books off the shelves while their mothers frantically try to pick it up, then seeing the mothers drag their crying kids out of the store while trying to pry whatever it is their kids are screaming for them to buy them out of their tiny but strong little hands, I say the same thing on a daily basis. I'M NOT HAVING KIDS! EVER! But I'm still really shocked about the rest of that article. The way she acted, she's acting like a little brat. Maybe she doesn't want kids cause she still is one, no wait, I can't insult little kids that way, most little kids I know have more sense than she does...
