They are making 2 films about janis joplin....renee zellweger is going to play her...YUCK!!! i find her to be very intriguing but I dont think she is right for the part and also for the other film Pink is going to be playing her...when i found out i literally cried....If I was born to do anything it was to play janis. I was trying to find out the company that is producing the film to complain and tell them that they should do a better search but i couldnt find anything.....This just puts me in such a bad mood...to be honest i am not a fan of Pink. I find her to very fake and i think she tries to hard. I also dont think she is pretty at all... im sorry everyone i didnt mean to go off topic. i just had to vent about that! I'm sorry to go off topic too, but good grief, Zellweger and Pink? I don't see how either of them could ever attempt to portray the spirit and intensity that Janis Joplin exuded. That woman could tear my heart out. I am so dissapointed. I think an unknown would have been best. This is awful news, if they want to give us Joplin's story then do it but do it right, don't cast just any old well known people to make ticket sales. I'm not fans of either Zellweger or Pink, and I'm not ragging on them, they're good at what they do, but even a non-Joplin fan should be able to see why I feel they couldn't do this woman justice.

Garcia Look at that smile! What a cutie!! By the way, does anyone know why he was named that? After Jerry Garcia maybe? And isn't Luke's dog named brother? Was that a tribute to Owen and Andrew? ;D

I think it's absolutely darling that Luke named his puppy Brother. It has to be in tribute to Owen and Andrew. So sweet!
Okay, I read an Owen interview from Hawaii during TBB. He was looking at a pretty girl, and then he got really nervous because her giant boyfriend seemed to be noticing. Owen told the reporter that the guys name was something Garcia or Garcia something and that they should get out of the little restaurant before this Garcia fellow decided to break something on Owen!! And I think Owen went up to the guy and spoke a few words to him, think he was a great surfer star or something like that. Then Owen was like, to the reporter, 'Do you think I should tell him that I named my dog after him". But he never said that to the guy!!!!!! So, there you go. Straight from Owen's mouth. Don't know if he actually NAMED Garcia after that particular guy, but that's the way Ow put it. Probably someone can find the article.

WF, Owen named Garcia after several Garcias. I think Jerry Garcia is one of them. He expains it in the interview in the recent Giant magazine, I think.
Yes, I did read once a couple of years ago that Luke's chocolate Lab is named Brother. I wonder why we don't see as much of Brother as we do Garcia.
I'd like to know how the guys travel with their dogs. Owen brought Garcia to the Czech Republic with him when he was filming BEL. I wonder how Garcia managed in the cargo bay on such a long flight. How were food/water/bodily functions coped with and by whom? Hmmm....
Casting a well-known to make ticket sales... you've probably hit the nail on the head. After all, Janis Joplin isn't exactly today's news - unfortunately - and they'd need a big name to balance out an "obscure" person. Obscure to the general movie-going public, that is.

How were food/water/bodily functions coped with and by whom? Hmmm.... Speaking of bodily functions, did you guys see the pictures on that site www.isifa.com of Owen walking Garcia all over town? There's a couple of photos where it appears Owen is picking up Garcia's "mess" off the grass, and I thought to myself, poor guy, who wants to be photographed picking up poop. I mean I don't know if that's what he's really doing, but it appears that way. At least Owen is respectful enough to clean up after his dog.

No, darn it, I must have missed that photo. But you're probably right about what Owen was doing. I mean, what else would he be doing bending over cleaning up "something" and Garcia is right there? lol.
Well it's very nice to know that Owen doesn't believe he's too good & high & mighty to clean up his dog's poop. I think that's awesome. Shows how gentlemanly he is.
No, I doubt he was happy being photographed at such an activity. But then again, maybe he doesn't mind because there's appreciative fans like us who will see the photo and admire him for his courtesy.

After all, Janis Joplin isn't exactly today's news - unfortunately - and they'd need a big name to balance out an "obscure" person. Obscure to the general movie-going public, that is. I know this is completely off topic again, and please forgive me, but speaking of obscure I had to mention this. I was at best buy the other day and the guy working there had never heard of Frank Zappa. Another customer asked for Zappa and the guy had no clue who he was. I was so shocked I asked the worker to please look at the Zappa section because he must recognize something, he looked but still had no idea. Then I went to circuit city looking for gifts for my dad's b-day and the guy had no idea who James Cagney was. Again I was shocked, I was like "You must know him! Yankee Doodle Dandy? White Heat? Angels with Dirty Faces?" The guy had never heard of any of those. I mean come on, even if you haven't seen the films you must at least know who Cagney is! I mean I'm 26, come on now! That's like when someone told me Britney Spears said she didn't know who Yoko Ono was, and that Avril Lavigne didn't know who David Bowie was. No offense to fans of Spears and Lavigne but they already make me cringe and that was just too much!

Oh man, I was just thinking how horrified I would be if someone snapped pictures of me cleaning out my cat's litter pan... I could just imagine the stupid look on my surprised face in the photo...

Sculptured, oh my goodness, I'm feeling old! I know a very nice guy at work, age 25, who didn't know who Johnny Cash was. Never heard of him.
I don't think I'd mind so much if someone took my photo while I was cleaning my cat's boxes. But then again, I'm not a celeb! Nobody WANTS to see a photo of me cleaning the litter boxes, lol.
But Owen cleaning up dog poop - now THAT's a photo-op! lol.

Ok, if nothing else, you'd think he should have at least known him for covering Soundgarden's "Rusty Cage" or Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" (which the Man in Black did very well...) Oh this makes me sad, I must go listen to "Folsom Prison Blues" now, oh how I love that twang...

The caption under the pics of Owen and Garcia out for a walk indicate that they were near the intersection of Beverly Blvd and Robertson. That's a bit of a drive from Santa Monica. It's near the Beverly Center. I wonder what he was doing there with Garcia...
I am somewhat familiar with that area. It's just south of Melrose and north of the Ivy.

Since I went way off topic, here's some Owen to redeem myself:

He was walking in front of a store called Originals 22, and the only listing I found for that name was in Camarillo. I wonder how accurate the captions are. I know it doesn't look like anyplace I've seen in Santa Monica, and yes, it does look like it could be near Beverly & Robertson. And in regards to the photographer taking the pics of him...taking care of business...come on, have some respect...let the man be. I know if I saw him out walking his dog, I wouldn't be taking pics of him cleaning up after Garcia...(I'd wait till he was done, then I'd walk right up to him )

LOL, Sculptured. New Line Cinema has offices on Robertson, don't they? I wonder if he could have been there for business with the studio? Of course, I have no idea if the offices are anywhere near the intersection where he was. Hey, thanks for the great photo of Chris Burnett!
