Yes, that's what one of the earlier postings had said... that it was filmed in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, I think? Both in NM, yes but the movie was supposed to be taking place in AZ. Hmmm.... I didn't recognize the countryside as particularly New Mexican or Arizonan.... just that it was beautiful, yes!
It would be interesting to compare the original with the remake. The original is in black & white and stars Glenn Ford (as Wade) and Van Heflin (as Evans). It was unusual to cast Ford as the villain, he's almost always the good guy.
Yes, Luke and Christian were really hot! And yes, the story was rivetting, I'd say.

Definitely. I loved the characters and the story and to me, it made perfect sense. People were saying they didn't get the ending. To me, if you paid attention to the characters and their interactions, it wouldn't be hard to understand. LOL It was a really, really good movie!

Didn't get the ending? That's a shame. Maybe the public has become too cynical? Whatever, it's definitely the best western since Unforgiven.

I don't normally watch Westerns either but I heard good things about it and out of curiosity, I added it to my DVD rental list. Its good to be in a rental scheme to try out different kinds of movies, then you don't feel tied into paying too much incase you don't like it... Christian Bale is in it right? I know someone who's a big Bale fan, any movie he is in, is quality, so im lead to believe, so, should be good and its nice to know Luke is there too, something to 'Luke' out for hehe...

For those who don't like westerns, maybe you'd feel differently if they were overlapped with comedies? I think the funniest comedy westerns are: The Hallelujah Trailwww.imdb.com/title/tt0059250/and Support Your Local Sheriffwww.imdb.com/title/tt0065051/I laughed til my face hurt. Modified to add: Sorry, it's off-topic. Maybe this posting should be moved to the Movies section.

I watched this movie last weekend, i'm not into westerns at all, but this one had Luke and Christian Bale in it, so I had to watch it. lol I really enjoyed it, it was a great movie. Luke's part was small, and definitely a departure from what I normally see him play. But it was fun to see him play a not-so-nice character!

City Slickers was pretty good but it's no Hallelujah Trail or Support Your Local Sheriff. It was of a different kind of humor too.

www City Slickers was pretty good but it's no Hallelujah Trail or Support Your Local Sheriff. It was of a different kind of humor too. It was good lol I remember seeing at least the sequel anyway, thought it was quite funny... I just read on Amazon that the original movie had Jake Gyllenhaal's first movie appearance too... (sorry if it is too off topic).

I only chuckled a few times at City Slickers whereas with the other two, I busted my gut laughing. Of course it's OK if you didn't like the two older films and prefer City Slickers. Humor is a very subjective thing. What I think is hysterically funny someone else might not think is funny at all.
OK, that's all I'll say about that. Sorry for the thread derailment! ;D

Hutch, I hope you like it.
I wonder if anyone has watched the original version from the 50's yet? I haven't. I wonder if it's on dvd; a little sleuthing at imdb should tell.
