Luke Wilson has been cool to work with. There is one scene where I slap him three times and we ran the scene 20-30 times, so you can do the math. Ouch! Thanks Remi! Beth

This is from Glamour magazine, April 2006.
Love scene reality check!
Ever watch couples go at it in the movies and wish your sex life was just as steamy? Well, read this insider's view and you'll never want to be them again.
Ivan Reitman, director of the upcoming summer flick My Super Ex-Girlfriend starring Uma Thurman and Luke Wilson (yep, that's them at left -- there is a picture in the magazine article, the ones posted here of them kissing, but you see all the cameras and people around them), reveals what typically goes on in those so-called sexy scenes:
1 - Everyone (and their mother) is watching.
"That's what happens when you shoot in public places. We filmed this in a park in Queens, New York. There was a nearby school, so about 200 kids were checking out Uma and Luke's every move, and maybe another 100 passersby were looking on - not to mention the crew!"
2 - Positions, noises - it's all micromanaged.
"This scene took five or six takes. It's not a lot, actually. I've been known to go as many as 20 if something's not working. Here, I'd been figuring out how to set Luke and Uma up. Finally, after I tried them side-by-side, Uma said, 'Why don't I just straddle him to make a point?'"
3 - There's barely time for introductions.
"We did a sex scene early on in production when Luke and Uma hardly knew each other. There was a lot of giggling that day."
4 - Breath mints? Ha!
"I'm not going to name names - and I'm not talking about Luke - but I've seen leading men down a hamburger with onions and mustard just before a shot. There's a sort of this odd perverseness. And I don't even think it's conscious.... Well, maybe it is."

Wouldn't it be great to be able to say... " 'Why don't I just straddle him to make a point?'" Yeah, right Uma...just to make a point my azz Thanks for the article Natalie.
